Three Virginia markets come online

Peerless Environmental began serving three Virginia markets on December 16, 2025, covering Greater Richmond, Central Virginia, and the Shenandoah Valley.

The expansion follows the company's growth across the Southeast and brings the same scope of work to Virginia: asbestos and lead testing, asbestos and lead abatement, and radon testing and mitigation.

Why local coverage matters in Virginia

Virginia's radon potential varies sharply by geology. The Shenandoah Valley around Harrisonburg and Rockingham County sits in EPA Radon Zone 1, the highest tier, where limestone and karst bedrock push county-average predictions above the 4.0 pCi/L action level. Albemarle County around Charlottesville sits in Zone 2.

Around Richmond the picture splits along the fall line: Chesterfield County, west of the James River, is Zone 1, while Richmond City and Henrico just across the river are Zone 3. Which side of the river a home sits on changes the expectation, and only a test confirms the actual level. Read more in our guide to radon levels in Virginia.

Services available at every branch

Each branch provides asbestos testing and lead testing, asbestos abatement and lead abatement, and radon testing and radon mitigation. Personnel hold AHERA Certification, EPA Lead-Safe Certified Firm status, and NRPP Certification.

A statement from Peerless Environmental

“Virginia's radon picture changes from one county to the next, and around Richmond it changes from one side of the river to the other,” said Daniel Smoke, Director of Operations at Peerless Environmental. “Crews based in these markets can respond locally, and local knowledge is part of matching the right test to the property.”
